Take a Break Already!
Boy do I need a break. Summertime flew by, and I seem to be getting busier and busier. Phone calls… workshops… planes… trains… and automobiles!
My partner Chuck reminds me constantly of the Sustainability Square on the Bigger Game Board. It’s classic – I do such a good job of teaching this square to others, but yet it’s hard for me to actually practice it.
I just get so darned busy, caught up in the day-to-day, overwhelmed and overworked. I can’t take a break for fear of losing momentum or falling behind. But here’s the truth: I need a break! I need to create more space to simply clear my mind.
In this very busy world of ours, it’s important for us all to remember to sustain ourselves. Our own individual bigger games demand that.
I believe that we are all bigger game players and we must take care of ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We must live authentically and in balance. As players, we serve as the engine that drives our bigger games, so it’s our job to keep that engine running.
Today I’m co-leading a workshop in NYC. After the workshop I’m looking forward to a jog in Central Park – a time to reflect on my day, and enjoy the people and beauty around me. My own personal “Rick Time!”
What will you do for yourself today?
