The GULP: Why this is a good thing
I don’t know how to do this.
What was I thinking?
I’m in way over my head!
How did I get myself into this?
Have you started your day with any of these questions? If so, believe it or not, you might be on the right track!
Instead of backing away from your nagging inner voices, try welcoming them as true signs that you’re moving out of a comfort zone and toward something bigger. Embrace them and acknowledge them in the moment. Fear is simply an emotion, a natural fight-or-flight response to a perceived threat. Don’t let it paralyze you or leave you unable to act. Instead, let it propel you into action.
In terms of what we experience in our physical body, there is no difference between scared and excited — scientists have proven this.
And that is what the GULP is all about: being excited and scared all at the same time.
New creative thoughts and ideas need GULP moments. When you experience this feeling, simply choose it as excitement, rather than fear. And remember, we get to choose how we experience everything!
While it might be scary to embrace a GULP moment, good things almost always occur when we challenge ourselves to stretch and grow.
Go get ‘em!
More to come-
